Hockey Clothing
The North American ice hockey market reflects this. The sport has also increased in popularity throughout the world partly due to the development of synthetic ice.
Goalie pants feature larger pelvic, thigh and hip pads for protection. Goalie jocks (also called Jills) are less protective of the groin but they have more padding on the front of the cup.
Apparel
Hockey players wear a lot of protective equipment since the sport requires high-speed skating on hard surfaces. It is often physically demanding where players often collide even intentionally. In addition to ice skates and sticks the standard safety equipment includes a helmet (with a visor or full face mask), shoulder pads and elbow pads, chest protectors, mouth guard and gloves, as well as heavily padded shorts (also known as hockey pants or jock athletic protector, for males, and a jockstrap, or a "jill" for females) and a pelvic protector (known as a girdle women) and thigh the tailbone, hip, as well as shin pads. A neck protector may be worn.
In recent years technology has been utilized to reduce the weight of ice hockey clothing and make it more useful. Many companies use carbon composites in stick shafts as well as specialized foam to make shoulder pads lighter without the protection. Other improvements include 3D scans that accurately determine the body proportions of a player so that elbow pads, knee pads and shinpads are made to fit each player.
The hockey market is expected to grow over the next several years as more people become aware of the sport and as artificial ice rinks are built around the world that allow players to play in areas where natural ice isn't available. The number of female hockey players has also grown which is good for the market.
Hats
A cap can be worn on and off the ice. We have a broad selection of caps that will please both women and men. We also have a selection of youth hats for younger players and fans that can be used for practice or games. Hats are an integral part hockey culture and are seen throughout the league including the infamous practice of hat tricks, in which fans throw their hats onto the ice after a player scores three goals during an entire game.
From the most popular designs to the latest releases, we've got the NHL gear you want to appear like an athlete both on and off the ice.
Jerseys
Jerseys are the uniforms worn by hockey players. They are typically made of thicker materials than jerseys worn in other sports, and come with long sleeves. The jerseys are adorned with the logo of the team on the front as well as the last name of the player on the their back, and the number ranging from zero to 100. Some jerseys bear a "C", "A", or "A" to indicate the team captain, and alternate captain.
There are two types: authentic and replica. Genuine jerseys are made of the same material as the jerseys worn by players, and they have the identical design. Replica jerseys are made from different materials (usually cheaper) and may not have the exact same design as authentic jerseys.
The majority of NHL teams have 3 or 4 sets of jerseys to wear during games. They also have special sets, such as heritage designs and charity events. Each jersey includes an inner back loop of fabric called a "fight strap" that needs to be tacked to the pants of the player in order to keep the jersey from being pulled over their head during a match.
The Authentic Pro is the top-tier jersey offered by the NHL and is made of high-performance fabrics with multilayered tackle twill 3D embroidery, as well as reinforced stitching. Both styles for women and men are available. The Authentic Premier is a version of the Authentic Pro that is designed to resemble the appearance of jerseys worn by athletes on the playing field.
Shirts
A team's sweaters--also called jerseys--are their most well-known piece clothing. They feature the team's main logo on the front, and usually have a second logo on the shoulders. The number of the player's name is located beneath the player's name, which can range from 0 100. The team captains wear a capital "C" to the left of their jersey's logo. Two other players are designated as alternate captains wear an "A".
The majority of NHL teams have a third or alternate jersey that is worn on special occasions, such as for the Winter Classic or Stadium Series. Many teams also have an old-fashioned or throwback option for their home jerseys. Third-sweater sweaters allow teams to try out new designs, and are often an initial basis for the creation of their primary sweaters.
Vancouver Canucks' sweater is a stunning combination of modern and traditional design. The black and navy blue jerseys are bold, making them easy to spot on the ice. White stripes create a contrast. The Canucks also sport a unique font on their names and numbers that enhances the clean and crisp look of the jersey.
